The “best” way—at least according to both practicality and how monkeys do it—is to peel a banana from the bottom, not the stem.
Here’s how:
1. Flip the banana upside down. Hold it so the stem points downward and the small, darker tip is on top.
2. Pinch the tip. Gently squeeze the top (the non-stem end) until it splits open.
3. Pull down the peel. Once it cracks, peel it down in sections. The banana comes out cleanly with fewer stringy bits.
Why this is more effective:
– The stem can be tough and may squish the fruit when you try to open it.
– The bottom is softer and naturally splits more easily.
– You avoid those annoying fibrous “strings.”
Bonus tip:
If the banana is very ripe and mushy, you can also snap it in half (peel and all), then peel each half separately—quick and mess-free.
It might feel backward at first, but once you try it, you’ll likely find it easier!
